Will you be the new artist-in-residence in Dresden?

The Goethe Institut Niederlande, the Arts and Culture Department of the City of Dresden, and CBK Rotterdam will once again offer an artist-in-residence program in Dresden in 2026. Since 2025, the Rotterdam-based artist initiative Het Wilde Weten has been a partner in the project. This program offers a Rotterdam-based visual artist the opportunity to stay in Dresden for two months.

The aim of this grant is to offer the artist-in-residence the opportunity to explore the local art scene, establish and deepen contacts, and exchange ideas and advice. From May 1st to June 30th, 2026, an apartment with a studio at the C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts in Dresden (https://www.crockefeller.org) will be made available free of charge. A monthly allowance of €1.700 will be provided for living expenses and work materials. In addition, a one-time travel allowance will be provided. The grant can only be used during this period.

Submit your application
Artists registered with CBK Rotterdam can submit an application by sending an email to Dr. Claudia Curio before February 22, 2026,
Goethe-Institut Cultural Department, claudia.curio@goethe.de. Please send the following in English or German:
• Your motivation for a stay in Dresden (1 A4)
• A CV with the most recent and relevant visual activities
• Documentation of your work (reference to website)
and of course your contact details.

A jury consisting of representatives from CBK Rotterdam, the Cultural Center of Dresden, Het Wilde Weten, and the Goethe-Institut will decide who will receive the grant. A key element in assessing the submitted applications is the applicant's motivation for staying in Dresden in relation to their professional practice. The decision will be announced no later than mid-March 2026.
