Become an advisor at Art Office

Are you a creative mind who is committed to an inclusive and fair Rotterdam art sector? Do you enjoy thinking about the development of art in the city and discussing it with others? Then we are looking for you!

CBK Rotterdam annually supports many special and innovative projects through Art Office and thus the development of Rotterdam visual artists, through the subsidy schemes I&V en Practical Contribution. The applications are diverse and often cover contemporary themes such as ecology, gender, identity, mourning, family history, technology and decolonization. From studies into techniques such as collography, screen printing, ceramics, digital art and textile art, to concrete plans for exhibitions or presentation moments at home and abroad.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for enthusiastic advisors for the I&V and Practice Contribution schemes, where applications are assessed from different perspectives on contemporary visual art. We strive for an advisor pool that is as diverse as the Rotterdam artist community itself. Where diversity stands for - for example - cultural and ethnic diversity, gender and sexual diversity and distribution in age, socio-economic background, disciplines and practices, experience and career level and geographical distribution within Rotterdam.

To enrich/strengthen our pool, we are looking for artists, makers and doers with knowledge of contemporary Rotterdam visual art, a critical social consciousness and in particular experience with and vision on themes surrounding cultural sensitivity and decolonization.

What are you going to do?
As an advisor, you assess applications for I&V or Practice Contribution based on substantive criteria. Look at here examples of projects with an award. If you are registered as a Rotterdam artist at CBK Rotterdam, it is important to know that you cannot submit applications when you provide advice for CBK Rotterdam. You will receive an hourly fee and will be appointed for two years.
