Specific question about your professional practice? Join our Mentorship program

Are you a Rotterdam visual artist and do you have a specific question about (a component within) your professional practice? With our Mentorship program, Art Office offers you the opportunity to take time for specific challenges that you encounter. How? By discussing this with a colleague. The mentoring program opens the door to conversations with colleagues outside the immediate circle, can yield new knowledge and perspectives and lead to mutual inspiration.

Mentorship Karin Stroo & Dirk van Lieshout

Why this initiative?

The Rotterdam art community holds a world of knowledge, experience and expertise. Art Office believes it is important to stimulate mutual cooperation and knowledge sharing within the city, because they are crucial for growth and development. With the Mentorship program we aim to build a mentor network,to connect artists with different experiences and expertise into contact with each other.

Art Office encourages this exchange by connecting artists and providing financial support for the mentor's hours. We believe that this will not only contribute to the development of individual professional practices, but also strengthen the position of visual artists and the Rotterdam network.

For who?

The mentorship is intended for Rotterdam visual artists who:
– are registered with Art Office;
– have login credentials for artoffice.info;
– have an updated artist page.

Mentorship Kamiel Verschuren & Jake Kelly

How does it work?

– Applications are processed in order of receipt. During the pilot phase, which will run until the end of 2024, we offer thirty courses. Due to its success, we will continue this in 2025.
– Each mentorship trajectory consists of four contact hours with a mentor, during which a specific question within professional practice is addressed. Mentors are compensated €200 excluding VAT for four hours of guidance.
– The available hours can be scheduled flexibly by mutual agreement, with a maximum duration of six months.
– We aim to arrange a match within three weeks. Once matched you will be informed by email and contact your mentor directly to set up appointments.
