About the Art Lending Service
In 1975, the Stichting Artotheek Rijnmond was founded in Delfshaven on the initiative of the Beroepsvereniging Beeldende Kunstenaars (BBK). The aim was to circulate art among the population at an affordable price. From 1982, the Artotheek was part of the then municipal Centrum Beeldende Kunst on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. In the meantime, renamed Kunstuitleen Rotterdam, it became independent again in 2017 on the Goudsesingel.
Hundreds of Rotterdammers and companies rent art from the special collection of the Kunstuitleen, according to many one of the best in the Netherlands. The choice is diverse: silkscreens, photography, pop art, abstract, lyrical paintings – you name it. And all that for an affordable price. On the website of Kunstuitleen Rotterdam, borrowers Benjamin and Denise talk about their empty walls and the art voucher they received as a gift. “That's the great thing about renting art: we really don't have the money yet to buy masterpieces by artists like Hans Wilschut, but now we have it hanging beautifully on the wall!”
The programming of the Doelen Art is made possible by CBK Rotterdam. Come by and be inspired! Admission is free
