Signed: Rotterdam! Night work

What happens when daylight disappears and Rotterdam lights up? Who moves through the streets, which places stay awake, what stories unfold while most of us sleep? In the exhibition 'Drawn: Rotterdam! Night Work', on view at Kunsthal Rotterdam from Saturday, October 17, city draughtsmen Tessa Biemans, Peyman Fazeli, and Steef Offerhaus each offer their own perspective on this theme.

Big Art 2026

During Big Art 2026, from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September, dozens of galleries and artists will showcase a stimulating mix of monumental paintings and drawings, large sculptures and substantial photographs, enchanting light artworks, and impressive interactive installations. This year, Big Art takes place at the Codrico factory in Katendrecht.

36 awarded applications in the first round of Impuls & Verdieping 2026

In the first round I&V (Impulse & Deepening subsidy for Rotterdam artists) of 2026, 36 of the 126 applications were granted. The granted applications concern an amount of €250.990.

Participate in research into cultural and creative ecosystems

The Municipality of Rotterdam is currently conducting in-depth research into the city's cultural and creative ecosystem together with Djamila Boulil, a PhD candidate from EUR and RUG. The upcoming phase of data collection will focus on freelancers and makers, particularly practices that are less visible within formal structures. Will you help?

These are the City Artists of 2026

Peyman Fazeli, Steef Offerhaus, and Tessa Biemans have been selected as City Artists of 2026. Each year, artists—the City Artists—are commissioned by the Rotterdam City Archives, the Kunsthal, and CBK Rotterdam to capture current events in the city in drawings. The theme "Night in Motion" invites the artists to explore and depict the nocturnal realm.
