In the summer of 2025, Marlike Marks continued working on her photo series "Sunflower Lane," which was presented later that year as part of the group exhibition "Where We Were" at Ballon Rouge. Within this larger context, her work found a clear place: intimate, intimate, and strongly focused on light, texture, and proximity. Marks: "For the image selection, I re-included one work from last year because it was too powerful not to show. In addition, I made a rigorous selection from the extensive new material I created this summer. Ultimately, only a small portion could be presented, simply because there was no more space, but the selection felt very careful and fitting."

The new direction I've taken this year, with a greater focus on close-ups, skin, texture, and a more intuitive working method, feels very fitting. It brings depth and tranquility to the project and gives it exactly the emotional layer I was looking for. I've also made progress in the presentation. Although I initially considered working with different presentation methods, with small and subtle mats or large and monumental frames, I discovered during the process that the work performed better in a single, clear line. That's why I ultimately chose Baryta prints in handmade solid walnut frames with museum glass. This gave both 'Sunflower Lane' and the coherence within 'Where We Were' a strong, consistent look.
