'When the Gods Have Been Done' is an art project by Merve Kılıçer in which she uses goddess figures to illustrate the clash between historical and contemporary landscapes. For instance, she juxtaposes images of the fertility goddess Kybele with images of coal mines in Turkey. In doing so, she demonstrates how people no longer worship the landscape but exploit it. At the invitation of curator Philipp Schwalb, Kılıçer gave a performance lecture about her work during the #33 Mnemosyne Atlas Lab in Munich. The lecture on December 2, 2025, was a new way for Kılıçer to present her work: using slides, she took visitors through cultural processes that have been ongoing for thousands of years but are now leading to ecocide and climate change.
