This fall, Dirk van Lieshout will show several drawings and models in the exhibition 'Under Construction' at the Powerlong Art Center in Xiamen, China. Last spring, the artist visited this location, when the idea arose together with ceramic specialist Stevens Vaugh to paint drawings directly onto plates - intended for the Chinese market. On June 27, he executed this plan in the Pauluskerk, where he gave ten regular visitors the workshop 'drawing or painting dinner plates'. The only 'assignment' was: draw, write or paint the message you want to tell the world. After the workshop, Van Lieshout baked the plates in a professional oven and returned them to the participants.
