Due to the unexpected closure of the planned location in Moerdijk, "Tussen wal en schip" could not be realized as intended. Instead, Sjors Smit created two alternative work and presentation periods that aligned with the original research objectives. At project space Sekreet, he and architect Dirk Hoogeveen developed a spatial installation that explores the relationship between anecdote, architecture, and intervention. Smit: "The collaboration was very fruitful and a new step in my artistic practice." At Teekengenootschap Pictura, Smit used lidar equipment and photogrammetry to explore how mapping techniques and archaeological documentation methods can be used to translate traces, history, and material remains into sculptural forms. Smit: "The combination of digital and physical processing forms a continuous thread in my practice and has yielded a follow-up question within this period, either in the form of a potential new commission."
