Onno Poiesz's monumental 'cocktail palm trees' can be seen until November 10, 2024 at the Urban Art Biennale in the Völklinger Hütte, a former steel and blast furnace complex in Germany. Their exuberant colors and appearance contrast not only with their surroundings, but also with the current situation in the world. 'True colours' is the last and largest work in a series of three, of which a small work is included in the collection of Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. 'True colours' consists of six poles of six meters high, placed next to each other. Steel cylinders are attached to the top of the poles, from which about 24 aluminum strips of different colors and lengths sprout and dance gently in the wind.
