How can '(un)making', the conscious non-production, serve as a solution for the social and ecological consequences of redundant labour and overproduction? Yoshinari Nishiki developed the workshop 'Transformative (un)making' during the By Design and By Disaster Conference at BASIS Vinschgau Venosta in Italy. In this workshop, Nishiki introduced his concept of (un)making through a series of presentations, discussions and practical exercises. He talked about his previous projects, including the infinite replication of bananas and the recycling of train tickets with the help of pigeons. During the presentation 'Making (un)making', Nishiki introduced the concept of (un)making in relation to current trends in 'sustainable advertising' and eco-labels. Participants were also asked to create their own hypothetical (un)made objects.
