Toad, Toad. Please, give me a new house and I will give you an old one is a project by Sol Enae Lee, in which she captures memories of the house in South Korea where she grew up. Due to gentrification of the neighborhood, the house is being demolished. Instead of capturing the house itself, she works with traces that remain: surfaces, textures, sound fragments, and emotions. She processes these into short poetic texts and new works, such as a partition onto which the tile pattern of the room has been extended. The installation was on display in January 2026 during the exhibition Chewed on Chewed up at Het Archief in Rotterdam.
