Twenty-five years after becoming the first same-sex couple to marry in Rotterdam, artist duo Gil & Moti presented a special anniversary exhibition in Nieuw Charlois from June 13 to July 4, 2026. With *Gil & Moti Wedding Project – Protect, 2001–2026*, they looked back on a historic moment in Dutch emancipation history and explored how people think about love, equality, and acceptance today. The new film premiered during the opening. Former Mayor Ivo Opstelten, who officiated Gil & Moti's wedding in 2001, opened the exhibition. This establishes a symbolic connection between the historic moment of the past and the current reflection of today.
