With The Gentle Suffocation of the Hornet, Djatá Bart-Plange (NDNMK Solutions) is developing a theatrical form inspired by Thai massage techniques. In this tradition, the masseur positions the client's body on a mattress, evoking associations with puppetry. In the coming period, Bart-Plange plans to explore methods for connecting bodywork, puppetry, and storytelling. He aims to playfully reconnect our physical bodies with our (shared) history. On a more practical level, he hopes to gain experience documenting and presenting performances, and professionally training and coordinating performers.
