For 'Ordered Chaos,' Jake Kelly developed a new sculptural method in which over 35.000 meters of hand-worked rope is fire-treated to achieve a finished surface. Kelly explains: "This process was far more labor-intensive than anticipated, requiring months of research, experimentation, and execution. While the work took a different form than originally envisioned, the central intention remained: to create a large-scale, public-facing, material-driven installation that questions value systems, narratives of corporate sustainability, and ecological responsibility." 'Ordered Chaos' was on display from June 20 to 29 in a special pavilion at the Utrecht Tweetakt Festival.
