'How to carry a floor' is a kinetic installation by Tair Uria, consisting of five floor plates on a metal spring approximately one meter high. Each plate is mounted on a small vehicle that moves slowly back and forth. As a result, the plates shift position, climb over each other, collide, and tilt under the influence of air currents and the movement of visitors. The work, which was on display at Gallery Joey Ramone in Rotterdam in the spring of 2026, raises the question of who the carrier is. In doing so, Uria explores the idea of ​​carriers as entities in an identity crisis: the floor as the ultimate carrier, carried by springs, carried by cars, carried by the floor... or vice versa.
