With 'Star Telephone', Yesum Yoon continues her ongoing attempts to visualize intimacy, love, and connection. According to Yoon, the need for speed and efficiency is having an increasingly significant impact on our relationships. With this new work, she therefore focuses on the question of what is lost in the process, such as closeness and caring. “With 'Star Telephone', I want to create a space for inevitable chance, allowing curiosity and care to re-enter the busy rhythm of daily obligations.” In the coming period, she will be working on a monumental installation of an extraterrestrial landscape in which every planet exists as a self-contained world where communication is systematically optimized, filtered, and evaluated. Yet, the inefficient, vulnerable language of love refuses to disappear: it floats along and through alternative frequencies where intention is more important than accuracy and where the importance of care outweighs clarity.
