Ghost talk. Making sound. Language? is an audio performance by artist Pita Kim. For this piece, she incorporated a portable MIDI controller into a performative garment inspired by traditional Korean mourning attire (so-bok). Using the MIDI controller—a device that sends musical instructions to software—Kim composed a live sound design. Her work originated from the question: 'What if the building can hear us, and can answer?' Sound is then no longer a representative layer, but a means to redefine spatial boundaries. The performance was created specifically for the Veillée event at the Tetterode building complex in Amsterdam and consequently entered into a dialogue with the layered history of the space.
