‘Out of sight, out of mind’, as the saying goes. From mines that devastate remote rural areas to deaths from a new virus, events that are destructive to places and people are often quickly forgotten. But why? In the eponymous duo exhibition, Merve Kılıçer and Jake Caleb presented individual works that answer this question by reflecting on personal experiences and letting the voices of those involved be heard. ‘out of sight, out of mind’ could be visited every Saturday and Sunday (and by appointment) from 9 November to 1 December 2024 at PuntWG in Amsterdam.
