Driven by the questions: 'how can spoken word function as a visual and spatial element?' and 'how can a combination of image, sound, and space generate an embodied and slowed-down viewing experience, as a form of engagement?', Marieke van der Lippe spent a period on the far western side of the Scottish island of Mull. For this project, she collaborated with writer, visual artist, and researcher Miek Zwamborn, who lives and works on Mull. From the recordings Van der Lippe made of the landscape and life on Mull, she created a film about engagement, the value of being in close contact with the natural environment, and the language that animates the landscape. For Van der Lippe, this represents a new form of visual work. The film will be screened in an empty swimming pool at the Calorama Estate in Noordwijk during the Zomerlicht Festival 2026.
