Gyz La Rivière worked in the NARS Foundation artist-in-residence program in New York for three months in the spring of 2024. In addition to his own studio, he received weekly studio visits from art critics, exhibition makers and gallery owners. During his stay, La Rivière created five new works: a zine ('BROOKLYN'), two readymades ('Capitalism' and 'Greed'), an installation ('Lee Towers – New York') and a new series ('NYC Protest Boxes'). The artist-in-residence program ended with the group exhibition 'Growing' in the NARS Foundation gallery. The stay also resulted in some special encounters, including with Mr. Kim from the former legendary video store Kim's Video and graffiti pioneer Lee Quiñones.
