Thanks to the Practical Contribution, Suzanne Dikker was able to participate as a 'steward' in 'The Linen Project' for a year. One of the most important results was to physically experience what it means to work - collectively - on growing, processing and manufacturing flax into linen. Participation in this project formed fertile food for Dikker's ongoing research into the value of sensory manufacturing processes, in an environment where intermaterial connections are increasingly fading into the background.

Dikker: 'During the year I learned about the different phases of the growth process of flax plants and about the processing into textile fibers. It was interesting to experience how you can look at this from different perspectives (grower, artist, researcher). In addition to the substantive insights, the close collaboration with the steward community, including many fellow artists, educators and Crafts Council NL, has yielded many meaningful connections and future perspectives. I have confirmed that I will remain involved in a new project cycle next year.'
