During Open Monument Day 2025, Ben Weir and Rámon Jiménez Cárdenas transformed the former Schiedam distillery De Hoop' into the spatial exhibition "Luck is Blind." The exhibition offered a unique opportunity to peek inside this national monument before it is repurposed. "Luck is Blind" is inspired by the former Schiedam asbestos factory Fortuna. Fortuna, the goddess of fortune and the personification of luck in ancient Rome, was often depicted blindfolded because luck is not influenced by justice. She does not judge. Weir and Jiménez Cárdenas reflect on the series of coincidences that gave them access to the building.
