In the summer of 2024, artist and masseur MC Julie Yu issued an open call to people with physical labor, including hairdressers and cleaners. She offered them a massage in exchange for a conversation about their work and the impact it has on their lives. This was followed by four meetings with a different participant each time, including a cleaner, a squatter and a cook. In December, the artist presented interview fragments from these sessions combined with aroma blends that she believes fit the people and stories in question. The project is part of 'Concept Labor Exchange', an experiment by Yu in which she investigates how massage work can exist without the exchange of money, but with alternative, more social forms of currency.
