Christmas Messages is a participatory artwork by Ieke Trinks that was part of the Right to Rest campaign by the Pauluskerk Rotterdam. This campaign draws attention to homeless people in the city by offering them beds and food, but also by engaging in conversation with artists or passers-by. Trinks wore a coat made of recycled packaging and had a cart with her where people could write a Christmas card. The cards were made of recycled cardboard and paper packaging material. Passers-by could write a message on them for homeless people and for people without papers. The cards were eventually hung up as a garland in the winter shelter.
