Mariana Aboim's Interruption-Inconvenience project explores how creative practices intertwined with queer visibility can contribute to dismantling cis-heteronormativity. Her application describes the difference between the visibility of queerness and gender ambiguity, on the one hand, and the presence of people who escape cisgender and binary representation, on the other. According to Aboim, this visibility is deeply rooted in "pinkwashing," a marketing strategy in which companies and organizations present themselves as LGBTQIA+-friendly to improve their image. Aboim argues that tolerance and inclusivity require more than rainbow stickers and Pride. Therefore, she is organizing a series of workshops to discuss the extent to which image- and text-based artworks can challenge prevailing categorizations of body norms. Aboim will present the results of her research with a publication and a public event.
