'Inherited Matter - A Finite Resource' is a floor installation by Ólafur Ólafsson and Libia Castro, in collaboration with design studio Flétta. Pieces of wood, metal, stone, and other objects have been laid out on the floor in a 7 by 10 meter composition. The materials all come from Ólafsson's father's workshop. Through this work, the artists reflect on personal reservations regarding the earth's resources and circular economies. The work raises questions about what it means to inherit materials, about their stories, the potential for reuse, and their transformation. The installation was on display at the Central Bank of Iceland in Reykjavik in May 2026.
