For Meta work process, Johannes Langkamp focuses on material and instrument research for a year in order to further elevate his work process to a work of art. The experiments he performs form an end in themselves and thus refer to themselves: a meta-work process. He wants to investigate how material influences his thoughts. Can he make this influence visible in his art? Can he let a sculpture take its own course, and an experiment determine the outcome? Langkamp has set up his Meta-work process project in such a way that as a thinking maker (or making thinker) he is given the space to experiment and fail. This process will take place within the walls of his studio, but also in other types of spaces, so that the research of materials and instruments also enters into a relationship with an investigation of space. As a highlight of this project, Langkamp is organizing an exhibition in which he will present his series of materials research as it has evolved: an open archive with an exuberant amount of experiments. The advisory committee is positive about this uncertain but valuable step by Langkamp towards a more process-based work process. The proposal is playful and poetic and may form a new chapter in his serious work practice.
