Where there are people, there are rats. That has been the case for a long time and will probably remain so for the time being, especially in Rotterdam. Although the rat loves who we are and what we do, that love is unfortunately not always mutual. In the excursion 'Expeditie Ratterdam', an initiative of Maarten Bel and Niek Hilkmann in collaboration with the Natural History Museum Rotterdam, the conversation between man and rat is opened. Bel: 'The excursion is a cross-pollination between art and nature, between artist and biologist. In this, the strengths of each field are bundled to ultimately arrive at a holistic story. In art, the focus is on the aspect of imagination. How can the story be conveyed? In nature, it is about the biological and ecological knowledge about the rat. Combining these disciplines encourages deeper thinking. In this, connections are made, complex relationships are discussed and the future of the rat is looked at.' 'Expeditie Ratterdam' will take place ten times in 2025. You can register via the website www.expeditieratterdam.nl.
