Lifescape is an investigation by Alice Ladenburg into the diversity of the landscape around Watchet, Somerset. This area has temperate rainforest, a rich coastline and unique heathland. The artist explores how we navigate and understand our ‘natural’ (or non-human) world, using her own observations and other perspectives and knowledge of the area as a starting point. The research will be carried out on location and in Rotterdam to produce a series of works that will be presented at East Quay, an arts centre in Watchet. The advisory committee considers this application to be a good balance between research, artistic inquiry and a concrete, feasible plan.
