Thanks to the Practice Contribution, Eekman could fully focus on creating new autonomous work. He decided to let the work arise as spontaneously as possible. As a result, he hoped to make the work more from his (metaphorical) heart. Eekman collected and made various images, drawings and paintings that ultimately came together in the collage. In this way the works served as a kind of mirror of his subconscious. Eekman: 'I tried to show my feelings by embodying materials, for example by tearing apart a clean mat of cardboard (also drawings), revealing a different image in the background. The layering was something I found very interesting to experiment with.' The works will be exhibited at Man met Bril Koffie from January 3 to March 5, 2024.
