With 'Missing Every Ground' Lucie Havel wanted to raise public awareness of soil issues. The artist did this by combining scientific theories and cultural views. The result is a video essay, divided over three screens, each representing a different scale: human, macroscopic and microscopic. To create the videos, Havel worked with second-hand equipment and open-source software, using simple, home-made solutions to keep the process affordable and sustainable.

The work process was divided into three phases: taking microscope images and collecting scientific information, writing a voice-over text with personal stories, and recording and editing the video. The presentation of the project exceeded Havel's expectations. Havel: "The use of self-made filters brought the microscopic images to life. I think I succeeded in combining the amount of information with an approach that is close to the people and evokes emotions." The first presentation took place during Groot Atelier Weekend 2024 and a larger exhibition will follow in April 2025 in the Helmond Cacaofabriek.
