Zalán Szakács created the 'Eigengrau Pavilion', a 360° sensory environment in which light and darkness interact. The work was on display in October 2024 during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven as an inflatable dome filled with mist, causing the boundaries of space to dissolve into darkness. The light installation in the center formed a spatial cylinder that gave each visitor an individual sensory experience. For this inflatable pavilion, Szakács was inspired by the 'Movie-Drome' (1965) by Stan VanDerBeek, a pioneer of 'expanded cinema' who reduced cinema to the essence of light, space and time.
