Eden Mitsenmacher's art practice focuses on the woman's body and her social voice. For several years now, her main interest has been in alternative forms of grief that receive little or no recognition by society, such as miscarriages and infertility. With her research Don't you, forget about me she explores many facets of this often invisible form of grief: what forms can this grief take? And why is our society silent about such pervasive issues that happen to one in four women? Through art historical research, Mitsenmacher wants to visualize how artists have incorporated miscarriages and infertility in their art over the centuries. She will also talk to psychologists and coaches who guide women in their grieving process, after which Mitsenmacher will organize workshops on this theme. The project will conclude with a short documentary that will give a voice to women dealing with loss and infertility. According to the advisory committee, this research forms a nice contrast with her existing work and will take her art practice to a higher level. With her personal experience she is the right person to make the subject visible.
