In November 2025, Joke Olthaar resided at the Künstlerhaus in Nairs, a combination artist residency, art gallery, and cultural laboratory in the Engadin mountains of Switzerland. At the end of the period, an exhibition and presentation of work she created there took place. Olthaar: "The residency in Nairs was essential for my project The Essence of Stone, in which the mountain landscape and stones were my direct inspiration. In the winter landscape, I experienced stronger contrast, contour, and vulnerability, visible in snow, ice, and light. During this period, I focused on graphic work, particularly linocut and drypoint, at the Stamperia. Collaboration and experimentation led to new landscapes in prints. Public presentations and the screening of my film BERG provided further depth. I want to further develop the insights I gained in Rotterdam."
