Textile artist Barbara Munsel participated in the international textile event Xtant in Palma de Mallorca in 2025; a valuable and inspiring step in her artistic development. Munsel contributed to the dialogue between tradition and modernity. By taking the rich tradition of the Dutch sampler as a starting point, she managed to bridge the gap between past and present. Her research into the visual and symbolic elements of samplers, and how these could be reinterpreted in the context of current themes, emphasized her ability to use textile art as a medium for deeper reflection and conversation. Munsel's project not only highlighted the value of traditional techniques but also challenged the boundaries of textile art by integrating modern materials and concepts.

The presentation at Xtant not only contributed to Munsel’s own artistic path, but also provided the ideal setting to celebrate the diversity and depth of textiles, while simultaneously sparking new, relevant discussions about the meaning of textiles in our current society.
