Domas van Wijk is fascinated by the increasingly blurring dividing line between people and technology. As an artist, he sees himself as a mediator between the public and the machine, looking for the new and unexpected. In his still young art practice he works a lot with technology because it evokes an autonomous feeling in him. Thanks to five years of experience, this sense of autonomy has gradually disappeared at Van Wijk, and he has started research into a digital production process that is new to him, which enables him to continue his obsessive hunt for autonomy. Working with 3D software enables him to operate more sustainably without being dependent on large workspaces or length of time. He calls chasing the autonomous spell his experiment, in which, in addition to following professional courses, he will also produce work with this new technique. Van Wijk is curious about the results and especially about the consequences of this new path he is taking: does this give him too much control over the creative process, or does he manage to retain his playful character? The advisory committee is positive about Van Wijk's experimental approach, which will provide him with new skills while having the ability to remain critical and reflect on this new creative process.
