Artist and poet Machteld Teekens has created hundreds of two-handed drawings of the female body since the 90s. For the Bi-manual Art project, she aims to share and discuss this work with young artists from networks she participates in, such as de Boog, The Sensing Self, and Singing Club Rotterdam. Two-handed drawing plays a central role in this process, influencing the interaction between the two hemispheres of the brain and, according to Teekens, also the way she depicts the female body. She also plans to publish a handmade booklet that will not only contain her drawings and poems but also offer insights into her working methods.
