Aus Gegebenem Anlass by Stefan Hoffman is a vertical screen printing project on the display windows of vacant shops on Friedrichstraße in the German city of Düsseldorf. He worked for several months as an 'embedded artist' in this street, which was once a luxury shopping street. An urban transformation process is underway, creating more space for pedestrians and cyclists. The street has therefore been a construction site for years and many shopkeepers have given up. Hoffman has installed screen printing works at four locations in the street. The motifs are inspired, among other things, by geometric pictograms from the working drawings for the construction work. He also spoke frequently with residents and undertook other activities.
