AASTD (Assembly As Accessibility Stimulating Thermoregulatory Device) investigates whether constructal law and heat sinks (cooling mechanisms in electronics) can be used as a visual and conceptual metaphor for the current state of late capitalism. Constructal law is a theory of the Delft scientist Adrian Bejan, who compares the distribution of wealth with the flow of water through rivers and the transport of freight by road. Water flows more efficiently in a large river over great distances than in individual streams. Dzirniek also sees this idea reflected in the organic design of the heat-regulating heatsink, which is why he wants to study the underlying processes in order to create new applications. Using collages, 3D models, 3D prints and material research, Dzirniek studies various liquid forms, which he combines with theoretical research at Delft University of Technology. The results come together in a practical book and a lecture in which the artist talks about the research process and presents several scale models, sketches and prototypes. The advisory committee finds Dzirniek's scientific approach to master this mystery convincing and, thanks to the deepening, a great impulse for his art practice.
