In short, the program offers compensation for time. The program is intended to strengthen your artistic professional practice by temporarily guaranteeing an income, so that you have time to develop an artistic question or project for a predetermined period. The creation process is central here, not the production of a work of art. Feel the freedom to play, try things and develop your professional practice in new ways.

De regeling voorziet alleen in het honorarium van de kunstenaar. Als richtlijn hanteert CBK Rotterdam € 2.500,- honorarium per maand bij een fulltime (38u/pw) inzet. Werk je twee dagen per week aan het project dan is het honorarium €1.000,- per maand. Je zou dan zeven en een halve maand aan het project kunnen werken, wanneer je een totaal van €7.500,- aanvraagt.

Er zijn twee aanvraagrondes per jaar. Per ronde kan één aanvraag worden ingediend, zolang er geen gebruik wordt gemaakt van een andere regeling van CBK Rotterdam. Na een toekenning moet het project eerst zijn afgerond; daarna kan pas na het verstrijken van drie aanvraagrondes opnieuw een aanvraag worden ingediend.

Applying for an I&V is primarily intended for individual visual art practice. If you are working as an artist duo you can apply for a joint research project, but you must submit individual applications. In your application, indicate what you will each contribute to the project. You can jointly apply for a total contribution of up to €7.500.

Artists following a master’s program at an art academy (HBO) and/or university (WO), such as the Sandberg Institute, Piet Zwart Institute, Minerva, HKU, ArtEZ or Arts and Culture at Leiden University are not eligible to apply. Artists participating in artist workshops such as the Rijksacademie, De Ateliers, Jan van Eyck or, for example, Sundaymorning@EKWC, the TextielMuseum, Knust, and Make Eindhoven can apply with a specific proposal for a project that meets the criteria of this scheme.

Your artist page on artoffice.info plays an important role in the evaluation of your application. It must be current, as the committee views it to get a good understanding of your current practice as a visual artist.

You can include assistance in your budget as “production costs”, provided that the support is carried out from an artistic perspective. The proposed method or technique explored with the support involved should add depth to your professional practice and artistic development.

No, the grant is intended for a working period in which the process is central, and not a final product.

The application should be submitted in Dutch. If this is not possible, then English is permissible. Please be aware that translation applications are used for assessment, which can significantly change the meaning and nuance of texts.

Co-funding is not required.

Nee, een I&V-toekenning is een subsidie. Wanneer je als btw-plichtige kunstenaar een dergelijke subsidie ontvangt, is er normaal gesproken geen btw van toepassing. Dit komt doordat de visueel kunstenaar geen dienst verleent aan de subsidieverstrekker en ook geen goederen verkoopt. Daarom zijn subsidies zoals een I&V-subsidie over het algemeen niet onderhevig aan btw. De subsidie wordt echter wel beschouwd als onderdeel van de omzet uit werkzaamheden als visueel kunstenaar en moet als inkomen worden gemeld aan de Belastingdienst.
