Stellata is an artist in transition. Her art practice changes along with her personal changes as a transgender woman. The focus of the sound art she previously made has shifted to textile weaving. In her experience, designing and developing fabrics is not much less technical or audible than her previous work. It resonates with her geeky personality. She loves weaving complicated patterns and working with bright colors. The issue that concerns her at the moment and that she wants to incorporate into her tissues is the oppressive experience she had when she ignored her gender identity, and the surprise she felt, and still does, at how much freedom she gave herself by revealing her real identity. acknowledge.

Ocular Glitches
Ocular Glitches Ocular Glitches is a series of 15 smaller canvases in which I explored visual patterns with minimal color combinations. The basis of these canvases is derived from Ocular Aurora, but with more variation in pattern and color. This research also challenged me to create my work in series, with each canvas returning to my own imaginary glitches as a trans woman. A series of 14 canvases, 21 x 20-26 cm, organic cotton, 2025.
Glitching Mermaids
Glitching Mermaids A series of three cloths made from a single warp, experimenting with different impressions by varying patterns and colors. The patterns stem from my Weaving Glitches research, which I've further developed in this series. Size approximately 30 x 30 cm, organic cotton, 2025.
Weaves of a Mermaid
Weaves of a Mermaid In "Weaves of a Mermaid," I tried to blend various techniques and patterns I wove in "Weaving Glitches" cloths 1 and 3. I wove it as an experiment to create a visualization based on a specific image in my mind: the sea, the surf, trash, and a mermaid. 31,5 x 57 cm, 8/2 organic cotton, 2025.
A Story of Unfolding Wings
A Story of Unfolding Wings A Story of Unfolding Wings is a short stop-motion film composed entirely of hand-woven images. It tells the story of my journey as a trans woman. About life under a male mask, the discovery and removal of the mask. Waiting on the waiting list, the diagnostic phase, and the transition that followed. The film aims to show how important transition can be for trans people, empower those still on the waiting list, and offer recognition and awareness to a wide audience. For the film, Stellata wove 8,4 meters of fabric into five canvases, which together yielded 1056 photographs. Each canvas represents a chapter in this process: life under a Boymask, the uncertainty of Waiting, the euphoria in Unmasked & Serenity. The weaving was both arduous and meditative. The process also helped her develop her own shuffle weaving technique for use in stop-motion filmmaking. The soundtrack was performed and composed by violinist Eefje Habraken, with audio recordings by Jasper Letschert. The embroidered titles were created in collaboration with Noa Mac Donald at the textile workshop New Order of Fashion. A Story of Unfolding Wings was made possible by the Moving Image Department of the Municipality of Rotterdam, Voordekunst, and the South Holland Cultural Fund.
Glitching Threads
Glitching Threads Glitching Threads is a direct continuation of my Weaving Glitches research. It's a commissioned piece, inspired by my first Weaving Glitches fabric, but with complete freedom of design. Weaving Glitches doek 4 Weaving Glitches was an investigation in which I sought a way to translate graphical screen glitches, or the visual beauty I find in them, into woven textiles. In this fourth piece, I explored the Shuffle Weave technique that originated in the earlier Weaving Glitches pieces. I wanted to test the technique as a means of transforming a diamond shape into a more chaotic form through multiple iterations. In my film, A Story of Unfolding Wings, I used this as an animation technique in the chapters "Unmasked" and "Serenity." Cotton fabric, dimensions: 190 x 54 cm

Weaving Glitches doek 3 Weaving Glitches was a research project in which I sought a way to translate graphical screen errors, or the visual beauty I find in them, into woven textiles. In this third piece, I continued my search for interesting patterns and structures, using a mix of echo and network in the warp, a unique variation on these weaving techniques. I also experimented further with adjusting the weave pattern to achieve a more effective weave. Handwoven with organic cotton, 185 x 56 cm. Weaving Glitches doek 2 Weaving Glitches was a research project in which I sought a way to translate graphical screen errors, or the visual beauty I find in them, into woven textiles. In this second piece, I expanded on the patterns and structures I encountered in the first piece and began to deliberately manipulate the weave, which I later called the Shuffle Weave technique. Weaving Glitches doek 1 Weaving Glitches was a research project in which I sought a way to translate graphical screen glitches, or the visual beauty I find in them, into woven textiles. In this first piece, I primarily sought a direct translation of the graphic elements I previously observed in computers with graphic glitches. Handwoven with organic cotton, 180 x 48 cm. Ocular Aurora
Ocular Aurora Ocular Aurora is an exploration of mixing color with yarn in fabrics. The colorways and shapes are based on ocular aura, or visual migraines, and the phenomenon of the aurora borealis. Cotton fabric, various sizes with a weaving width of 32 cm, 2024.
Transweaves
Transweaves Transweaves is a series of weavings in which I (for the first time) explored ways to translate my transition into woven cloths. For this series, I adapted the moiré weaving technique as described by Eva Stossels to eight shafts. Along the way, I came up with more of my own versions, from which this series emerged. 365 Jurkjes Boek - In the 365 Dresses Book I documented the first year of my transition with daily selfies and blog texts from my 365 Dresses weblog. The production was made possible by a crowdfunding campaign at Voordekunst at the beginning of the year. With contributions from Wouter Le Duc, Pat Janeiro, Lorelinde Verhees, Emoke Bada. 356 Jurkjes - In June 2020 I discovered that I am a transgender woman. 365 Jurkjes is a weblog in which I recorded the changes in my face caused by the first year of hormone therapy. Every day I wore a different dress and posted a selfie. I also reported on my emotional journey that year in blog texts. November 2021 - November 2022. I am still supplementing the weblog with blog posts in an addendum.
Aurora’s Dress - Aurora's Dress is a collaboration project with costume designer Hanne Pierrot. The dress, which is also an analog electronic musical instrument, was the basis for the performance Aurora Awakens in which Aurora gained consciousness in her capsule and discovered a new world. Aurora Awakens symbolized the journey I made between the age of four, when I began to realize that I could not be who I wanted to be, and the moment I discovered that I am a transgender woman. In the selfies you can see the changes that the hormone treatment causes in her appearance over time. She also keeps track of her experiences, dreams and physical and emotional changes on her weblog.
