Raw honesty, radicalism, and unfamiliar territories are the foundation of Samidin's
continuous life's work called Societies. At the core, is the essence of seeing, hearing
and accepting a human being without prejudice and judgment. Documenting the lives
of minorities, the oppressed and of those with unorthodox lifestyles all around the
world. Creating a shift in the individual and collective consciousness by challenging
our perception and raising the voices of the unheard through photography and film.

**Document Nederland 2018, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam** - Since 1975, the Rijksmuseum has asked a Dutch photographer to research and record a current social subject. Together, these series form an impressive visual history of the Netherlands. The exhibition 'Document Netherlands: Stacii Samidin photographs the Café' consists of more than 40 photos and was on view from October 12, 2018 to January 20, 2019.

**Merdeka, Dossier Indië. Wereldmuseum Rotterdam 2019** - Rotterdam photographer Stacii Samidin with roots in Indonesia was commissioned by the Wereldmuseum to create the photo series Merdeka! Stacii traveled to Indonesia to look for traces of the Dutch presence. Merdeka is a commonly used term in the Indonesian and Moluccan communities and means freedom/independence. The exhibition is a personal reflection on the colonial legacy that he finds in Indonesia and the Netherlands today. With the Wereldmuseum, Samidin looks beyond the year 1949 in his new photo exhibition.

**ADAMAS 2020 - 2024** - ADAMAS Amsterdam is a network of people who know 'the streets' and who stand up for young people who are currently not or hardly heard. Young people who are difficult to reach because they are disappointed and angry. Hardened by resistance and conflict. That's where our name comes from: ADAMAS means indestructible. It is a Greek word that also refers to indestructible gemstones created by intense resistance. And there is another meaning: ADAMAS stands for forces that protect you against toxic outside influences. All these meanings represent who we are and what we do.

**Societies, My lifework. 2011-heden** - With his documentary photo work he emphasizes people and identity. In doing so, he seeks a balance between the character of a person and the character of an environment. He shoots reality, travels the world, makes stories and thereby enters worlds within the world of the contemporary. These are often worlds that are placed on the margins of society as stereotypes; families, gangs, different types of cultures, groups of people and identities. In 2011, his life's work “Societies” was born.
