Niels Post is a visual artist and active as co-founder of Trendbeheer.com. He was educated at the AKI in Enschede and the San Francisco Art Institute. His work has been shown worldwide at video festivals, exhibitions and as a self-initiative in public space. Spam, computer-generated text that nobody wants but that crops up everywhere, has been the basic material of his professional practice in recent years. Post uses it for interventions on empty shop windows, wall sculptures and space-filling installations.

On Spam, Lectori Salutem #7 - Hand-sawn plywood, lacquer paint and electric motors, 2019. Permanent installation for LAM Lisse. A moving sculpture in which the salutation, the salvation of the reader, of email spam is central. Specially made for the entrance of the LAM (Lisser Art Museum). Thirteen different salutations from my spam filter, handsawn and painted, will make their rounds quietly and calmly in the coming decades. On Spam, Comment Spam #72 - Handsawn plywood and lacquer paint, 2020. Kröller-Müller Museum, contribution to Not in so many words. An exhibition with works from the museum collection in which text plays an important role as a visual element. In addition, Guido de Boer, Fillip Studios (Roos Meerman & Tom Kortbeek) and I were asked to create a new work. A very subtle work by Jenny Holzer hangs in the museum's restaurant. A ticker in which a long text scrolls through a window. To read the text, stand still and look. I chose to make a wall sculpture that runs from the museum garden, through the window and then around a corner a few more times to end up next to the Holzer. In a sense an interactive work, in order to see and read the text in its entirety you as a visitor will have to walk. The exhibition includes around forty works by Robert Barry, Marcel Broodthaers, Jenny Holzer, Joseph Kosuth, Bruce Nauman, Marc Ruygrok and herman de vries, among others.

On Spam, Comment Spam #48-59 - Hand-sawn poplar plywood, glue and lacquer, 2019. A series in which the legibility of the text is of secondary importance. All executed in a distorted version of Arial, one of the ten basic letters (“core fonts”) of the Internet. Presentation during Art Rotterdam 2019, three of the works were purchased by the Akzo Nobel Art Foundation.
On Spam, Comment Spam #45 - Hand-sawn plywood, stain and glue, 2018. Temporary outdoor sculpture for Hack Morcambe (UK).
On Spam, Lectori Salutem #6 - Computer-milled plastic letters on bridge, 2017. In 2006, without being asked, I hung a mailbox on the Erasmus Bridge and thus claimed the bridge as my personal postal address. In the nine weeks that the mailbox was there, I received 134 letters and cards from all over the world. On July 14, 2006, the municipality had had enough and the mailbox was removed. I was invited to be present so that I could pick up the last mail and take the mailbox back to my studio. When the Erasmus Bridge celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2016, the FRANK Foundation invited me to create a new work in the context of Playing The Erasmus Bridge (PTEB). On Spam, Lectori Salutem #6 is a text from my spam filter that loosely refers to the many holiday greetings that I received from my mailbox in exactly the same place ten years earlier. For people who do not know the story of the mailbox, including the many tourists who walk over the Erasmus Bridge every day, it is mainly a friendly greeting that raises questions. In November 2017, the work was included in the collection of Sculpture International Rotterdam. This makes it, as far as I know, the only permanently installed spam rule in the public space in the world.
