Miranda Schellevis - Studio BE BOLD

to draw , to paint , collage , Abstract

I create colorful abstract collages in which my background as a graphic designer is reflected. I enjoy rearranging the torn paper to arrive at a composition that matches the feeling I want to convey. In my collages, I explore how color, composition, and material relate to one another and how small interventions can shift the image.
Color forms a powerful starting point in my work. Through contrast, rhythm, and composition, I set clear accents and create images that position themselves clearly in space.

I work partly intuitively. When I color the paper, it is purely based on intuition. But when creating a new composition, I look with the eye I had as a graphic designer.

Everyday experiences are my source of inspiration. Such as the sense of security I get as soon as I step into my garden, an appointment I enthusiastically wrote in my calendar but now dread, or the memory of a firm hug from a loved one.

The works are abstract, but with titles such as 'Let's walk', 'Comfort Clash', and 'Heartwarming hug', I provide a direction while also leaving room for personal interpretation.

I combine materials such as paper, chalk, paint, and tape. The layering is visible and deliberately constructed; every addition contributes to the whole.

The Garden

Date:
Location: Plaisier Avantgarde

The Garden invites you to dream away for a moment and unwind. Not a story, but a feeling. With soft abstract forms and intense colors, Miranda creates an atmosphere of security and relaxation.
For her, this feeling begins as soon as she steps into the garden by her studio—a place where she immediately finds peace, regardless of what is going on. She wants to share that same experience with the viewer. The Garden is therefore not about understanding, but about feeling.
