Lea Nieuwhof

Figurative , Abstract

Recurring themes in Lea Nieuwhof's paintings are chaos and order, light and dark, structures and rhythms.
She looks at the constantly changing surface of the earth as she walks. She reduces the complicated shapes that arise as a result of weathering, wind, water to simplicity and readable patterns.

Series of paintings deal with a specific theme. Sequences of objects turning on the canvas, the light and patterns in bubble wrap hanging in front of the studio windows, the transparency and reflections of water, forest-like, branchy tree structures and shell landscapes. After regular visits to Canada, the landscape became important. Working with brushstrokes in the earlier paintings changes to seeing shells on the beach as brushstrokes on a plane.
In addition to paintings, mainly in oil paint, she makes drawings and three-dimensional work.
Work has been purchased by various individuals, public buildings, companies and CBK Rotterdam. She participated in various exhibitions in the Netherlands and Germany, Morocco

how we relate to it is constantly changing.
