I'm a visual artist working in sculptural installations across various media. As someone named after others, I've never had a name that was truly my own. This has always fascinated me. I come from a family that, as my aunt once said, carries "the curse of preservation." I'm constantly reminded of this legacy—not only by my names, but also by the objects around me. Most things in my life aren't mine in the first place: a chair from a distant great-aunt, the cutlery of my grandparents' parents, small objects and ideologies that have been passed down and preserved. This idea of carrying names, stories, and objects that preceded me is a recurring theme in my work.
The blurring of the boundaries between people, generations and things.
In my artistic practice, I often ask myself – and others – whether we can recognize ourselves in a photo of our grandmother, or in a note left by a stranger on the street.

The antennae together form the artistic advisory board of Kunsthal Kloof.
This council consists of artists who are actively involved in the field and offer diverse perspectives on contemporary art. They advise on emerging artists, themes, and programming suggestions, and reflect on underexposed themes within Kloof.

De Belofte is a project by Kunstliefde for recently graduated artists. The process starts a few months after graduation, at the beginning of the new year, and concludes with a group exhibition in May/June.
De Ijskast
De Ijskast is a non-profit art space in the heart of Rotterdam founded by Geertje Brandenburg in 2022, the space itself was closed in 2023 and De Ijskast has continued as a nomadic concept ever since.

In 2022 I founded art space De Ijskast in Rotterdam. With the aim of offering a place for experimentation for 'young' artists. Not only by offering a space, but also by offering an artist fee and networking opportunities where possible.
